Wanting to work from home with an internet business is a great goal. Many companies operating today started with that same dream and found succes. Some by trial and error and others due to planning and knowing how to start an internet business. In theory, there is no difference in starting an internet business than in starting any other type of business.

There is an old saying that goes if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail and that is true when starting a business. You primary need cash to pay your bills for living when getting your business up and running into profits, and secondary you have to pay the bills from your starting business.

You need a website for your internetbusiness. You can build one yourself or you can pay someone to build a quality site for you. Your site needs a certain level of professionalism according with the presentation of your business.

If you are offering retail sales, then a secure shopping cart will be necessary and will need to be integrated into your website. Customers who cannot find asimple way to pay for purchases will simply become visitors.

Getting people to your website is vital. There are many different methods to attrackt people to your website. Unless you are prepared with a large budget for advertising and marketing, you will have to look to alternative methods of
letting the world know you are in business and ready to help them.

Marketing on a shoestring can be done, but you will need to be prepared to do a lot of things on your own. Sending emails to family and friends, advertising in papers, deliver postcards to the people in your neighbourhood. Become known as the person to call for insight on information in your area of expertise. Become known as the person to call for insight on information in your area of expertise. Get to know reporters and editors of your local newspaper, offering your services if they need information about whatever field you are involved in and when they do call with questions, take the time to give them answers and let them quote you in the paper.

Once you're planned and know how to start, do not be afraid to announce your business. Find small town newspapers. Many of them are willing to give you a free plug as a new business opening in the area. But do not make the mistake to promise them to advertise in the future, as most editorial staffs do not mix with advertising.
