Choosing a Career in Public Relations

People that are in positions of demand in the publications domain often
say that a career in public relations is amongst the most competitive,
most industrious and most pleasing of profession possible. This is totally
understandable as PR is a career that is full of responsibilities that
hold the future of the company in their hand. You need the education for
this industry.
The main objective of a career in public relations is to assist a corporation
in creating, preserving and/or improving their reputation. The possible
job titles that present in this area are public relations specialist,
a media specialist, or a communications specialist, but in turn they all consist of the same responsibilities.
The person could be working in industries like advertising, the media,
the community, in an environment where there are interested and/or invested
persons or groups, in political parties. Also if there are more than one
parties interconnected like a business to business relation, or a private
and public link or a relationship between a consumer and a business.
The various responsibilities that can be involved in a career in public
relations can be writing, public speaking, interstate or international
travel, program orchestration, presentation design, contact and liaison,

The Public Relations Society of America says that a career in public relations
includes the PR agent employed in a number of roles for organizations
like "public information, investor relations, public affairs, corporate
communications, employee relations, marketing or product publicity, and
consumer service or customer relations."
The salary of a person in a career in public relations can include, besides
the implied cover for the normal work, an extra pay for the sudden overtime,
for the emergent and the serious. For a person getting into a career in
public relations will have to start at the entry level and then can move
up the cooperate ladder to positions such as vice president of a company, where
they would have to formulate various plans and also work with other PR
specialists in order to research, develop, and implement the communications
plan(s) that is most appropriate.
According to the Statistics putout by the Public Relations Society of
America and Bureau of Labor the salaries can start at about 20k and have
the potential to reach 250k, depending where the people practice their
career in public relations.
Although there is no strict rule as per the required qualifications for
a career in public relations, the PRSA and BLS suggest that a people can
get themselves best equipped and viable by obtaining a bachelor's or post-secondary
degree andthen validating that with some good hands-on experience. Regardless
of what future the Pr specialist chooses, be it the public sector, the
government relations, in counseling or research, in community work, in
media or finance, the blend mentioned above will be lucrative and satisfying.
