Linking is an easy way to get quality traffic to your site. Unfortunately
many do not uncover the true potential of this cost effective form of
marketing. Many just try one form of linking and then give up because
they do not see the results they want. There are many ways to link and
when done correctly they will also earn you a good rank in the Search
Engines.
The most important type of links are back links. These are one-way links
that point to you. Google regards these highly and will increase your
page rank when they see more of these back links pointing to your site.
The problem is that every web master wants these but you can get them
easily by these few methods:
Highly desirable content
Blogging
RSS feeds
Freeware download
Web directories
Article Distribution
All these methods are known as link baiting. This merely means that you
are making your site a highly desirable source of information /resources
for visitors and other webmasters. When you do this others will link to
you and you will get many valuable back links from people linking in to
your site.
- Highly Desirable Content:
You can have some professional articles written for your site. You
can get this done at http://Elance.com
you can also write some yourself. Make them informative and professional.
Put a link to your articles on your navigation bar and allow reprint
rights to them, this will allow more viral distribution and links. Always
include your bio or resource box with an anchor link. Make an article
bank or archive for visitors to look at. Other web site owners will
find your articles and recognize them as valuable resources for their
visitors and link in to your site. You will get many back links this
way.
- RSS feeds
Use RSS feeds as sources of information. You can get latest trends
and humorous antidotes about your industry. Yahoo news feeds can help
you with this.
Look on the business networks and forums to find hot discussion topics
you can use as stories for your content
Write a research story on a hot topic of interest in yourindustry
- Freeware Download:
Create a free download of something valuable. A freelance programmer
can do this for you. Offer this for free in return for web masters linking
in to you.
- Web Directories:
Submit to the Web Directories. You can look them up on Google. Sometimes
they charge a small fee but it will be worth it in the long run.
- Article distribution:
Make an anchor link in your resource box for your articles and always
allow reprint rights. Submit your articles to all the article directories.
Either you can pay for a service or you can do this manually by looking
up the directories in Google.
How To Advertise Your Resources And Attract Other Web Masters:
- RSS feeds and blogging: you can link to your articles and resources
with blogs and RSS feeds.
- Submit your site to the search engines.
- Use PPC and Google Adwords to drive traffic to your website.
- By Distributing articles to different publications in your field
- Article and ad swapping with other publications
You can also participate in link exchanges and web rings. Toincrease
traffic to your website. Although exchanging links is not viewed very
highly by the search engines it will still bring good quality traffic.
The key to good linking is only linking with quality sites. It does not
matter if their page rank is a little lower as long as the site is good.
Always link with sites that are complementary to your business and not
your competitors or you will end up giving away sales.
When you follow these few points you can easily and cost effectively
increase your traffic to your website. When you do this you will not only
save money on other expensive advertising you will gain a steady increase
in your traffic that will in turn lead to increased sales.
