Almost all of the successful Internet marketers know and use this
secret. Most people come to the internet for one reason, to find
FREE information. They are not looking for nor do they care about
you or me. So the key is to provide what they ARE looking for.
Ideally you want to first find a hungry group and give them what
they want. This is basic Direct Marketing 101. But if you already
have a site, your marketing has to be two-fold. You need a way to
get those people to your site and then keep them there long enough
to get a sale. We will concentrate on what to do once you get them
there.
The FREE information they seek is the key. This works especially
well if you sell an information product. But it will work
for other products as well. What information could you provide
related to your product or service?
When visitors come to the internet looking for this information,
they will visit a lot of sites, Most of which will consist
of a sales letters touting their latest product, book or service
but give them very little of the information they are seeking.
If you have done your marketing job they will also find your product
related site which contains exactly the kind of information they
have been seeking for FREE.
Giving them the information they seek does two things for YOU.
It keeps them on your site and lets you cunningly steer them to
where you want them to go Your awesome sales page. You do have an
awesome sales page don't you?
Because once they have absorbed your FREE information they are
now ready for more specific information. It just so happens that
you (being the wily entrepreneur that you are) have anticipated
their need and already have a great book, report or manual that
will give them that specific information.
Since you have given them much of the information they were seeking,
when many other sites did not. There is now a level of trust established.
They are now primed to hear about your book with even more of
the facts and resources they need? Of course you will have made
casual mention of this fact at just the right time and lead them
to your dynamite Sales page.
Most times you can gradually lead from your information right into
your sales pitch on the same page. Remember this has to be done
deftly or you will lose your prospect before you ever get them.
Because yours is specialized knowledge that they could not find
anywhere else, they will be much more inclined to get it from you,
someone they now know and trust.
Obviously this is a very simplified example and there are other
considerations involved, but we have run out of space and will have
to cover that at a later time, but you get the drift. Just think
of what type of incentive you can provide? Then go find that hungry
group!
Until next time
I wish you all the best in your Internet adventures.
