Internet marketers are constantly looking for new ways to
boost conversion rates and squeeze out more money from the
traffic they already have. In the past the best tool for grabbing
attention were pop ups. No one could resist them.
Webmasters went crazy and everyone started using multiple pop ups
in an effort to cash in on that lucrative tool.
That has had a negative effect. Pop ups became such a nuisance
that instead of drawing buyers in, they chased surfers away in droves.
Smart surfers now run pop up stoppers and pop up blockers.
Even Google and Yahoo added free pop up blockers to their
tool bars so surfers could surf in peace.
The power of the pop up has nearly died.
But leave it to smart entrepreneurs, they found a way around
this problem. Many webmasters and entrepreneurs are now using
what is referred to as the "unblockable" pop up.
That's because this new type of pop up isn't a pop up at all. Instead
of popping up in a separate window it loads right inside the same
browser the surfer is currently using. That way no pop up blocker
can stop the 'pop up' from being viewed.
To see this new style of pop up in action go to my home page
at http://andrebell.com
(JavaScript should be enabled in your browser to get my example
pop up to close for you after 10 seconds).
What I have seen since using this new style of pop up are
traffic conversions in some case by 3 times. That's 300% improvement.
This is important because if you run a newsletter or ezine you
want as many people as possible to join. Using this style of pop
up will in the long run increase your income.
Where do you get this new style of pop up?
Some people like the services of companies like www.instantattention.com
because they provide everything with little headache and little
upfront cost compared to running out and buying a bunch of different
software programs to create your own "unblockable" pop
up.
On the other hand, you could make these pop ups yourself FREE if
you
already have everything you need.
What's needed?
- you need basic html knowledge
- you need to be able to follow cut-and-paste instructions
- you to have a graphic image you want to use as a background
and
- an image editor to write the words you want to see on
the image.
Here's are the steps:
- Create your pop up image in your favorite image editor.
I scanned a yellow sheet of paper into my computer and used an
old version of Photoshop to add text, page curl, shadow, and resize
my image.
- Next go to http://www.cerebuswebmaster.com
and download his JavaScript flying message script.
This is where a basic knowledge of html is absolutely necessary.
Without that knowledge you probably won't recognize what can safely
be changed in the script and you might not recognize the next
set of instructions.
a) edit the html in the flying message script itself to
change the background color, border, speed, etc. to match
your liking
b) follow the instructions in the script for cut-and-pasting
it into the html page you want the pop up to appear on
c) add an 'a href' tag so the image is clickable
For my example I used: <a href="http://www.andrebell.com/o/freeaudit.html"><img
border="0" src="closes3.jpg"></a>
If you know html you recognize what I mean.
- Upload to your server your finished graphic image and the
html page you just edited.
- Walla, you are done! Enjoy your handy work.
It really is that easy.
After you have everything uploaded you may want to customize the
speed settings, placement on the page where you want the graphic
to appear and so on. Again, a basic knowledge of html is needed.
Other than that there is no trouble in making this new style of
pop up work for you.
You now have your own "unblockable" pop up and are ready
to watch your conversion numbers double and triple.
And the best part is, it's FREE to do if you have a scanner to
scan an image, image editing software to add text, and basic html
knowledge.
