Ever wish there was more than 24 hours in a day? Ever feel like
you run out of time long before you run out of things to do? Well,
you are not alone. For most of us, one of the first lessons we learned
as an adult was that there is never enough time in the day. And
ever since that realization, we have been looking for ways to stretch
the time we have.
By implementing a few simple techniques, you can help get time
back on your side, and stop wasting one of your most precious resources.
The first thing you should do is keep a diary of everything that
you do on a daily basis. Be specific, accounting for each minute
for a least a couple of weeks. You will likely be surprised at really
how much time you are wasting. By keeping a diary, you can pinpoint
the exact areas that need improvement when it comes to time management.
The second thing you should do is write a daily "to do"
list. You should prioritize this list and complete the most important
items first. The key here is to stop wasting so much time on meaningless
tasks and stay focused on the project at hand. Keeping a "to
do"list also gives you a goal of how much you need to get done
every day.
The third thing you should do is learn to delegate tasks to others,
so that you can focus your energy on key projects that are most
important to you and your business. No matter what you think, you
cannot do everything. Save the most important (and profitable) tasks
for yourself.
By understanding the value of your time, and setting clear goals
to achieve these time-saving objectives, you can stretch your time
and maximize your efforts, which ultimately will stretch your bottom-line,
as well.
