A Quick Website Makeover Quiz

by Barry Harrison

Published on this site: February 20th, 2004

How do you know when it's time to update your site?

We've come up with this five minute website makeover quiz to help you determine the answer. Score each question from 0 to 3, add up the total-- then see our recommendations at the end.

  1. Does your site have up-to-date content focused on your visitors' needs?

Know your visitors. Give them what they want, and make sure your site provides up-to-date information. Nothing undermines your credibility faster than outdated content.

  2. Does the look and feel of your site reflect your business image?

Looks matter. A lot. Most visitors form an impression of your company within seconds of landing on your site. Make sure you're sending the right message.

  3. Does your site help visitors accomplish their goals?

Consider typical visitor scenarios for your site. Provide a clear path and an obvious "call to action" to build visitor confidence and you'll convert more prospects into clients.

  4. Do you have a plan to market your site and measure the results?

Effective web marketing drives targeted prospects to your site. Market your site through Search Engine optimization, Pay-per-Click campaigns and newsletters, according to your budget and type of business.

  5. Is your site achieving your business goals?

Whether you expect your site to enhance your image, build your client base or directly generate revenue, you have to set goals, implement your plan, and monitor the results.
