Writing
and responding to emails or letters can easily become a source of free advertising
if you know what to do and you do it well.
These tips will go a long way
to help your signature files (resource box or by-line) have the effect it ought
to.
- Your Signature File should not be more than six to eight lines.
Do not cram all the programs you have into your signature file. It turns the reader
hostile. It is a dead turn-off and it only gets the reader confused. Eliminate
all irrelevances and make your Sig. File short and precise. An helpful tip for
getting this done is to write out a list of the benefits of your offer, then pick
two or three of the most obvious benefits and then link them together using descriptive
adjectives.
- Use the AIDA principle effectively.
A
- Attention. Your Sig. File must arrest attention. if it doesn't, you might
as well forget the whole thing.
I - Interest. Create curiosity.
Make your reader want to know more.
D - Detail. Although short,
your Sig. File should contain enough information for your reader. It must never
be vague.
A - Action. Make your reader act. It is one thing they
love to do, so make them do it.
- Create flow. Your Sig.
File should flow together from beginning to end where the reader is expected to
act.
- Use action-stimulating words. Here are five to get you
thinking.
Act Now!,
Its free...,
Yours for the asking...,
Get
started now..,
Send an email and its all yours.. etc.
- Create
a sense of urgency. People will respond better when you make the situation urgent.
The success of your Sig. File depends entirely on this. Once people don't click
or act immediately, they tend to forget. Tell them there is a deadline, a bonus
for the first 100, redeem a price in two minutes, first 500 gets free ebook etc.
One last thing, always keep in mind the KISS principle. Keep It Short
and Simple (KISS).
